A gun shop owner told me he can’t get handguns, or reloading equipment now. Is this a bad sign?

New_World_Order asked:

He told me he can still get shotgun primers. In fact, while I was talking to him, this couple came in and asked for reloading supplies. He said he couldn’t help them. Every concealable gun in America has been bought up. What is up with that?

Obama and Biden are patently anti gun. There is a genuine concern from honest law abiding citizens that may have never owned a gun before, to go out and get one before the liberals new messiah bans them from ownership.

People are buying guns, ammo, and reloading supplies like crazy. I believe that there are 2 generally accepted explanations:

    1. Fear of a federal ban on firearms: Due to the new attorney general’s statements about bringing back the assault weapons ban of 1994, people fear that their ability to purchase new firearms is in jeopardy. People fear that the ban would be broader than the 1994 ban and would close some of the loopholes that were exploited in the older ban. In addition, there is talk at the state and federal level of more closely regulating ammo sales, such as ballistic fingerprinting or documentation of ammo sales. That is also causing the ammo buying rush.

    2. A general fear or uneasiness in society: the USA is in a recession and unemployment is very high. Combine that with a new political administration that has control of both houses of Congress with a very liberal, social agenda and people are uneasy about changes to the law and to society. The good ol’ days are over, it appears, and some people respond to that by buying guns and stock-piling ammo.

I don’t know what you mean by a bad sign, but I think either explanation is a testament that people vote as much with their dollars as in November every 4 years. Despite the bad economy, gun sales are through the roof. (Guns are being purchased rapidly, but have not been “bought up.”)

I just got back from a huge Gun & Knife Show in Cincinnati, and was absolutely appalled at how difficult it is now to purchase ammo. All the dealers could say is that they are selling the ammo faster than they are receiving shipments, b/c it won’t be long before the new Socialist Republic of Obama resorts to changing everything we’ve ever know about our right to bear arms and purchase guns and ammo legally.

Obama was the most radically liberal congressman in the senate before he was elected President, and he WILL impose his ideology on the predominently-Liberal Democratic Congress. After the Gun Show, I went to the local shooting range and ran into the same situation. The shooting range manager didn’t even have ANY .357 or .38 rounds in stock, b/c he said those are the 2 models of guns people are buying up in hoards. I’ve never seen anything like this, and either have the gun/ammo suppliers.

Thousands of handguns and tons of reloading equipment available right now if you’re dealer was only willing to make a few phone calls. Time to find another shop.

It means your gun shop owner doesn’t know how to run business. No problems here getting guns or ammo. Especially at the Wannamacher show today (the world’s largest gun show when it’s in Tulsa). I bought a couple of nice Glocks at Academy sports just a couple of weeks ago.

No it’s a good sign. It means that people are exercising their constitutionally protected right to own a firearm for the defense of themselves, their families and their property. Remember an armed society is a polite society. My only hope is that the people buying new firearms are first-time buyers so we can add them to the already estimated 80 million gun owners in the U.S.

There is a good chance that a bunch of guns are going to be banned and ammo heavily taxed so people are stocking up while they can. The gun and ammo makers are going to make a lot of money until a Republican is president again.

It means that more than a few people in the arms business are guilty of price gouging
If in a high demand situation the supply is intentionally limited and the cost of getting the product on the shelf doesn’t increase then the profit on it must.

It’s a sign that you need to find another dealer who can afford some inventory

I can go to Gander Mountain and buy all the handguns I want tomorrow
Primers and ammo are hard to find because as soon as they hit the shelves they are bought thanks to some election time propaganda put out by the NRA and GOA and then carried to an extreme that even they could not foresee due to some normal marketing problems that hit at the same time

I just bought a wonder nine last week, value packs of ammo are hard to find but can still be found the premium ammo is plentiful if you’re willing to pay the premium price.

All this will be over in less than 4 years when Obama is out of office and we have a Republican back in but yeah in the mean time just go hit up another shop cause this dude doesn’t seem to know how to run his.
