For a Taurus Model 85UL 38 SPL, whats the biggest grain bullet I can use in this gun?

army_husbandky asked:

just bought my first 38 special, I own other handguns and also reload my own ammo. According to the speer reloading manual, it only goes up to 125 gr. is this maybe the highest grain round that speer makes, or how big of a round can I use?

I’ve seen .38 special ammunition with bullet weights up to 180gr. Traditionally 158 gr bullets were the .38 special load.

You may be misreading your manual, because my Speer manual lists 125, 140, 148, 158, 160 gr. bullets in various configurations
